Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports Medicine This is a clinical interest group run by the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy and represents all Chartered Physiotherapists who have an interest in or work with sports and sports medicine. Stephen is a member of the ACPSM.
The British Medical Acupuncture SocietyThis is society for medical professionals who practice acupuncture. It encourages the use of acupuncture as a scientific treatment method after orthodox diagnosis, and only administered by highly trained medical professionals. Stephen is a member.
Chartered Society of PhysiotherapyThis is the most central association of physiotherapists. Many health insurance policies only allow for physiotherapy if done by a chartered physiotherapist. Stephen is a member, and Matthew is an associate member.
Federation of Holistic TherapistsThis organisation aims to establish and maintain high standards of treatment in all areas of hollistic therapy for the benefit and protection of the public. It has a code of conduct that all its therapists must adhere to in order to best serve their clients and themselves. Matthew and Stephen are both members.
Health Professions CouncilThe HPC is a regulating body which is responsible for monitoring and maintaining high standards amongst health professionals. This is so you can be assured you receive treatment from a qualified and competent practitioner. Stephen is on their register.
Physio FirstPhysio first was launched to promote high standards in private practice physiotherapy. They have two main goals: to help the general public understand what physiotherapy is and why it is useful, and to enable you to support private practices through their register of professionals, which includes Stephen.
Register of Exercise ProfessionalsREPs was set up to promote the interests and health of those who use the services of fitness and exercise professionals, by setting standards for instructors, teachers and trainers. It aims to recognise competence and achievement worldwide. Matthew is a member.
Sports Massage AssociationThe Sports Massage Association awards qualifications in sports massage to those who have no other massage qualifications. The courses that we do through Barnes School of Sports Therapy are recognised by the SMA, and we are qualified to award SMA-approved certificates in sports massage.
Society of Orthopaedic Medicine This consists of doctors and physiotherapists with a shared interest in orthopaedic medicine. This kind of medicine is the examination, diagnosis and treatment of non-surgical lesions of the musculoskeletal system. Stephen and Simon are both members, but there is no register.
Vocational Training Charitable TrustOur school is a VTCT approved centre, which means that we are qualified to award VTCT-approved certificates.VTCT is government-approved and is at the forefront of increasing awareness for the vocational qualifications system in the UK.
